Jay Levitt: I can't help but think.

Novelty country song

No lyrics, just a title:

“How Can I Give You a Ring If You Won’t Return My Calls?”

Regression

Posted by Jay Levitt Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:05 GMT

This one’s all about the lyrical meter. It’s probably around M.M. 88, driving eight-note rhythm, maybe a chord progression like A-Cm-F-G (which is awful close to “Follow Me To Heaven”, but oh well). Syllables on ONE and TWO and THREE and FOUR and ONE and two AND (three) and four and.

Why do I regress when you come into my life

I’m wearing out the buttons on my caller ID
cause in my pity naps I might have slept through you calling me
I’m getting bruises on my chin from clinging tight to my knees

Missing the You

Posted by Jay Levitt Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:05 GMT

Some unedited lyrics from last November..

when the trees drop their petals
as the morning settles
the jasmine carries your name

and though the limka is sweet
you can’t keep the beat
in the shadow of paternal shame

the apologies are shallow
and a spark just isnt enough

…Missing the you that you seemed to be when you seemed less like me…

And some bonus rhymes:

Elusive/delusive
Exotic/psychotic
version/aversion
